905.1 Community Use Of School District Buildings, Sites, And Equipment

The buildings, sites, and equipment of the school district will be made available for a fee to local nonprofit entities which promote cultural, educational, civic, community, or recreational activities. Such use will be permitted only when the use does not interfere with or disrupt the education program or school-related activity and the use is consistent with state law. It is within the discretion of the board to allow for-profit entities to use school district buildings and sites. The board reserves the right to deny use of the buildings and sites and the equipment to any group. Organizations, individuals, and other entities who wish to use the school district property must apply at the superintendent's office. It shall be the responsibility of the board secretary or superintendent to determine whether the school district facility requested is available and whether the application for use meets board policy and administrative regulations. It shall be the responsibility of the superintendent and board secretary to provide application forms and draw up the contract for use of school district property. Activities in the school district buildings and sites shall be supervised by an employee of the school district. The employee shall not accept a fee from the user. If appropriate, the school district employee may be paid by the school district which will be reimbursed by the user. It shall be the responsibility of the superintendent to develop a fee schedule for the board's approval and to develop administrative regulations regarding this policy.

905.1R1 Use Of School District Facilities Regulation

1. There shall be no alcoholic beverages brought to or consumed in the buildings or on the grounds.

2. There shall be no smoking or tobacco use in school facilities or on school grounds.

3. All state laws will be followed.

4. A custodian or a qualified responsible school employee must be present whenever a building is used for non-school purposes.

5. After a school building has been used by an outside group, cleaning will be done by employees assisted by a committee from the outside group. Fees for such work will be charged to the group.

6. The District reserves the right to deny any and all request for rental. These rules and regulations apply to all users.

7. The revisions made to this policy on May 9, 2016, will take effect on July 1, 2016, and supersede any and all previous Board action for usage of facilities.

Fees/Guidelines for Facility Usage

TYPE I: 1. Student and staff related SCHOOL ACTIVITIES such as drama, music events, athletic events, etc. 2. All directly related school activities. 3. Activities sponsored by the Chariton Parks and Recreation Department. 4. Non-profit, tax exempt public groups (public agencies, Organizations, or other tax supported groups) composed largely of (75%) of school district residents. 5. TYPE II: 1. Non-profit, tax exempt special interest groups (fraternal/service organizations) composed largely (75%) of school district residents. (ie: Community Concert Association, Chariton Valley Players, Fire Dept.) 2. Religious groups composed largely (75%) of school district residents. 3. ADDITIONAL FEES: Use of piano: $15.00/per hour. If tuning is requested, the renter shall pay the tuning fees. Special lighting in the auditorium: $15.00/per hour. Outdoor athletic facilities: $35.00 per 2 hours (there is a 2 hour minimum). If lights are used, additional $50.00 per 2 hours (there is a 2 hour minimum). Also, a $25.00/per hour custodial fee.

PAYMENT PROCEDURE: 1. $25.00 deposit required with application. Deposit will be returned after it has been determined that no facility damages or issues occurred and payment has been received. Organization will forfeit deposit if facility has been damaged. 2. Charges must be paid within 30 days of billing date. 3. Checks returned for non-payment will be assessed a service charge of $25.00 5. Please contact Peggy White at the Central Office if there are any questions.

*NOTE: CUSTODIAL SERVICES WILL APPLY WHENEVER A CUSTODIAN IS NOT REGULARLY ON DUTY OR EMPLOYEE IS NOT AVAILABLE.

**NOTE: WHEN A MEAL IS BEING SERVED AND/OR MAJOR EQUIPMENT USED, THE FEES ABOVE WILL BE CHARGED. IN ADDITION, A SCHOOL LUNCH STAFF MEMBER MUST BE ON DUTY WITH THEIR SALARY TO BE AT THE RATE OF $20.00 PER HOUR.
